Preparing For Your Driving License Restoration Hearing in Michigan

To get your driving license in Michigan is hard. It is harder to get it back. How do you prepare for such a tedious process? Let us help you through this article.

Losing your driving privileges is one of the worst effects of having legal problems when it comes to your driving. For one reason or another, you may think that your driving privileges are just privileges that you do not have in your life but that is not it is already a given fact that the best way that you can drive is to make sure that you drive with the right license.

In the state of Michigan or probably anywhere else in the world, you are just digging yourself an even bigger hole if you drive even though your license has been revoked. You do not need to worry though because there are some ways that you can continue enjoying the privileges of your driver’s license while you get your license reinstated but these are all limited.

Here at Haque Legal, we suggest that you do your best to never get your driver’s license revoked. However, when the worst thing happens and you have lost your driving privileges, there are some things that you should do to get your driver’s license back.

What evidence do I need to present?

You need to present evidence that would help you out in the process of getting your license restored. Keep in mind that you would need to submit Forms 258 and 257 and with these forms, you should submit the following as well:

A 12 Panel Drug Test With At Least Two Integrity Variables

A 12-panel drug test is important in making sure that you are not just switching your alcoholism or your drug problem to a different kind of drug. For our clients, we always suggest that you get the comprehensive drug test panel to show that you are certainly on the road to change.

Three to Six Community Support Letters

You need to show off that you have already changed and the persons who can attest to that change would be the persons who always see you. The persons in the community that you are in will be able to show the judge and the persons involved in your community hearing that you have indeed changed. Keep in mind that this is important and that you should know how to show your change to the community.

We always say that while there are only six that the court would ask, we may ask you for more. You must have more community support if possible as it will be a great indicator of the change that you have shown off.

Who can write my community support letters?

Different persons can write your community support letters. From the persons who know you personally to the ones who know you professionally, you should be good to go. The courts will look at community support as a way of accepting you back into the fold and trusting that you can once again drive and people would still feel safe.

We recommend that you have a friend who is a professional, a pastor, someone coming from your church, someone attending meetings with you, a member of your organization, other friends as well as family can also be a great part of the community support letters.

How do I know if I need more community support letters?

We will assess the situation and we will be the ones who would tell you if you need more community support letters. You should always keep in mind that the community support letters are important because of how they serve the purpose of you being able to be trustworthy in the eyes of the state again.

Should I send in more letters to help my case?

Here at Haque Legal, we have to answer that it depends on your case. As we have said, we have handled a lot of cases where the individuals involved often look at their case and see that they would need more support from the community. This is actually on a case-to-case basis.

It does not necessarily follow that the more letters you would send would mean more chances of getting approved. However, we can guarantee that we will focus and prioritize your case to make sure that you submit everything that you need to submit and when you need to submit them.

Doctor’s Letter

The letter coming from the doctor that would show your medical history as well as the fact that you have already changed is very important. If your doctor can show that you are in good health and that you have been taking good care of yourself, you should be good to go. It is always a good idea to have a professional’s opinion in what you submit to the courts.
